Kate Abbey Biography
Kate's first camera was the princely sum of £2.99 plus 2 tokens off a packet of cereal - things have moved on since then, although what she chose to shoot with her very first roll of film resonates through her style today: She captured the intimate candid mischief of her siblings at the fair in the field next door. Not as a means to record the event, but more as a way of stealing away a moment, that split-second of togetherness, that makes us feel like we belong.
Today, Kate's images continue to 'connect' us to the moment.
Over the last 15 years she has refined the art of capturing these distinct glimpses into people's lives. Forever honing in on the believable, she focuses on those minute quirks that sets us apart - never happy until she's captured that shot: the one we never question of being real. All this is portrayed with a natural style that makes the lighting, production and composition feel quite effortless.
